Greetings From Our President!
On behalf of the Zeta Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ®, I welcome you to our website!
The women of Zeta Theta Omega are extremely proud of our chapter and the support we have provided to the Greater Akron community for 67 years. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® was founded 113 years ago on the foundational pillars of scholarship, sisterhood, and service. Our beloved Sorority is the FIRST Greek-letter Sorority founded by African-American women. We began humbly on January 15, 1908 as the vision of young college women. This “vision fair” has flourished into a globally impactful organization of nearly 300,000 college-educated women bound together by our sincere Sisterhood and our devoted commitment to servant-leadership.
ZTO is a local expression of that bond. Our commitment to Akron began 67 years ago when our Charter members realized a vacuum of service in the Akron area. ZTO galvanizes its membership to meet those needs by providing scholarships, advocacy and community service to improve the lives of those in our community.
Zeta Theta Omega, chartered on April 3, 1954 and our Undergraduate chapter, Delta Pi chartered on April 15, 1961 were pioneers in providing service to our community. We are extremely grateful for the foresight and leadership of our charter members who embodied the spirit of our Great Sisterhood's motto of "Service to All Mankind."
ZTO locally implements our Sorority's 2018-2022 International Program -- “Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service”. Our International Program includes five Program Targets that are designed to advance the mission of Alpha Kappa Alpha with excellence and underscore our commitment to sustainable service. The Targets include: support of Historically Black Colleges & Universities - HBCU for Life; Women's Health and Wellness; Building an Economic Legacy; The Arts and Culture, Global Impact, and our Signature Program #CAP, which provides college-readiness aid to high school students.
Through faith in God, an ongoing commitment to our Founders' vision, and the strength of our Sisterhood, ZTO will continue to implement programs that educate and empower, address
critical needs in our community, advocate for social change, and improve the quality of life for all who reside in our service area.
I am honored and humbled to serve as the President of Zeta Theta Omega chapter.
